Description

Recently we published a first tool to characterize the historical invasions of jumping genes into genomes. This user-friendly application implements whole genome information, detect jumping genes and especially extracts transposed elements that transposed into other elements. Because old elements have lost their ability to transpose only younger elements are able to jump into, e.g., older elements. This directional information can be used to determine the relative chronology of insertion events. Our current tool available at http://www.compgen.uni-muenster.de/tools/tint is well suitable to provide a first impression of such events and was exemplary applied for the distribution pattern of Alu transposons in primates.
