Description

Museum 2.0 – Virtual Environments for Collaboration is a cooperation project between the Landschaftsverband Westfalen-Lippe (LWL) and the University of Münster, department of Information Systems, research group communication and collaboration management. Aim of the project is to make the “LWL-Museum für Kunst und Kultur” online accessible as a virtual space enabling interactions with other users and content of the museum. Users shall be encouraged to get more active than before, to react to offers by the museum and to discuss (blogs, chats, guest book). Specific user groups shall be bounded, by discussions and exchange via the internet, more tightly to the LWL. Thereby, innovative technologies are supposed to be used that both enable an exploration of the museum and its art works as well as the communication with the LWL. Basis for an ongoing visit of the museum are gamification elements. The use of these technologies shall enable a more attractive internet presence and foster the dissemination possibilities as well as the development of new target audiences. The implemented functions, based on the Unity3D-engine, serve as basis for the research of the communication behavior within virtual worlds.
