The project -spanned between legal theory, philosophy and social theory - will analyze whether there are specifically “modern” forms of normative justification within the relation of religion and politics, how the legal system triangulates this relation, and which dynamics of development can be observed or even predicted in this field. It aims to unfold the meta-narratives “normative modernisation“, “normative modernity” and “historical learning process” as theoretical concepts and to test their explanatory force.
